KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah artistic gymnastics team aims to win the gold in the individual horizontal bar event at the 2024 Malaysia Games (Sukma) in Sarawak this August.
Coach Azri Omar said the target is based on the potential of Sabah gymnast Marvell Vincent Voo, who has the necessary experience in the event and is a junior national gymnast.
ADVERTISEMENT "For now, we can target one individual gold medal in the horizontal bar as we have a junior national gymnast, Marvell, who is training in Bukit Jalil,” he told Bernama at the Sabah artistic gymnastics team’s training session at Likas Sports Complex here recently.
Azri said the team has prepared for almost two years and they conducted a controlled test to measure their performances and capabilities.
"We conduct controlled tests every fortnight. There are two more tests to prepare for Sukma,” he said, as he expressed hope that the Sabah team, six men and six women, would do their best at the Games.
He also hoped that the team would maintain their performance and success in the last Sukma and continue to contribute a medal in the team event this time around.
