PETALING JAYA: First City University College celebrated a momentous graduation ceremony, honouring 266 students from various programmes and levels. Held at One World Hotel, the event was marked by a grand procession of graduates in full academic array, with families, friends, and faculty members coming together to celebrate the accomplishments of the graduating students.

This year graduation featured 60 students from the Faculty of Business, Hospitality, and Communication; 148 from the Faculty of Design and Built Environment; and 58 from the Faculty of Computer Science and Technology, including 10 Master’s graduates, 137 Bachelor’s graduates, and 119 Diploma graduates. The graduation ceremony saw the conferring of awards to graduates at Diploma, Degree, and Post-graduate levels in various disciplines, including Business Administration, Accounting and Finance, Fashion Marketing, Interior Architecture, and Design and Information Technology.

The event was graced by the presence of esteemed guests, including YgBhg Tan Sri Dato’ IR (Dr) Teo Chiang Kok, Chairman of the Board of Governors; YgBhg Tan Sri Dato’ (Dr) Teo Chiang Liang, Director and Member of the Board of Governors; Datuk Yaacob Bin Wan Ibrahim, Chancellor of First City University College; Professor Dr. Saw Sor Heoh, Vice-Chancellor of First City University College; Dr Hing Hiang Lian, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of First City University College; Members of the Board of Governors; and staff of First City University College.

In her address, Professor Dr. Saw Sor Heoh, Vice-Chancellor of First City University College, stressed the importance of adapting to the evolving world, stating, "Your education at First City University College has equipped and prepared you for a lifetime of accomplishments and triumphs. The future of today’s world is filled with opportunities and challenges. You have learned to think critically, act ethically, and contribute meaningfully to society. The knowledge and skills you possess are powerful, and with them, you will continue to bring honour to our institution and make a positive impact wherever your journey leads you.”

The ceremony included the prestigious Industry Excellence Awards, recognising exceptional achievements by Bachelor’s Degree graduates across various fields. These awards underscore the effectiveness of First City University College's curriculum, meticulously designed in collaboration with industry experts to ensure graduates are equipped with the requisite skills and knowledge to excel in their careers. The Industry Excellence Awards celebrate graduates who have demonstrated outstanding performance in industry projects, internships, and contributions to industry events and competitions.

In addition to the Industry Excellence Awards, First City University College has established robust partnerships with leading companies to provide students with industry-relevant initiatives and activities. Jacqielynn Saw Sze Wye

Jacqielynn Saw Sze Wye, a Bachelor of Computer Science (Intelligent Systems) (Honours) graduate received both the Excellence Awards – Distinction and the Industry Excellence Awards. Her achievements include leading the tech club and Taekwondo team, and excelling in her final year project, which won the Most Popular Award at the Innovation Day Showcase. Jacqielynn's success reflects First City University College’s dedication to nurturing well-rounded individuals prepared for industry leadership.

Chong Xian Lim

Chong Xian Lim from the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) Business Management who received the Excellence Awards – Distinction and also Industry Excellence Award remarked, “First City University College not only provided me with a full scholarship during a challenging time but also offered platforms for personal and professional growth. I am grateful for the opportunities and support, and I believe in the potential of First City University College to achieve greater success and impact in the future.”

Ang Wei Chun, a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Graphic Design graduate who received the Excellence Awards – Distinction, reflects on his experience, "My time at First City University College was truly transformative, shaping my design knowledge and personal growth. Through coursework, design competitions, and meaningful relationships, I learned resilience and the importance of balancing academic pursuits with personal development."

Gong,HongShen, an international student graduating with a Bachelor of Computer Science (Intelligent Systems) (Honours), echoes this sentiment, "Graduating with distinction is a significant milestone that reflects not only my efforts but also the dedication of our lecturers, supportive staff, and friendly classmates."
