Kota Kinabalu: The Soul to Soul Festival should be expanded to other districts in the state so that more people can participate, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.

The programme encompasses activities, modules in the form of spirituality and knowledge that is beneficial to the family to know and love Allah and make the Qur’an and the Sunnah the main guide.

“There are too many programmes that are purely entertainment which can cause negligence.

“Thus, spiritual and religious programmes such as this Soul to Soul Festival are very welcome.

“Cooperate with any relevant government department or agency in organising a program like this,” he said when officiating the Festival at the Sabah International Convention Center (SICC), Saturday.

He said the forum related to the importance of family institutions held in conjunction with the festival was beneficial especially in today’s situation.

“We all believe that the success of a race or a society starts from a family.

“If a family is good, disciplined and ethical, then good, disciplined, moral and ethical society members will be formed.

“That’s why, in today’s increasingly challenging world, the institution of the family is an important component in the process of forming society and subsequently the state and nation.

“Without a strong family institution, society will be fragile and ultimately the people in the country will not be perfect.

“Islam views the family as an institution that forms a society that will be built, where the people are strong in religious values and have a high level of ethics,” he said.

He said that the state government, through the Sabah Maju Jaya Direction Policy, not only emphasised aspects of economic development and the progress of the people’s lives, but more specifically, the development of human capital as a preparation for future and national assets.

“Programs like this Soul to Soul Festival, I consider it as part of the human capital development program, because it also educates and shapes the soul of the community, in order to become knowledgeable and knowledgeable members of society.

“At the same time, we also want the people of this blessed state, not only to be educated and of high character, but also to live in an atmosphere of harmony, harmony and peace regardless of tribe, culture and religion,” he said.

The festival organised by Sabah’s Bayu Raudhah Welfare Organization was themed a Scientific Festival for the Whole Family, involving a lot of content in promoting the true Islamic way of life and the importance of improving the Islamic economy based on the Holy Quran and Hadith SAW.
