RM667,729 Syabu seized in Kota Kinabalu, Tawau
Sabah Customs Asst Director-General Siti Mang in a media conference at Wisma Kastam  on Monday said the first arrest occurred at 12.30pm in Tawau Airport, involving the 29-year-old suspect. 
Kota Kinabalu: The Customs Department apprehended two suspected drug mules and seized some 20kg of what is believed to be methamphetamine (syabu) valued at RM667,729. 

The locals aged 18 and 29 were intercepted upon arrival from Peninsular Malaysia at Kota Kinabalu International Airport (KKIA) and Tawau Airport, respectively, on July 30.

“A luggage scan revealed 10 packages of suspected methamphetamine weighing 10,199 grams and estimated worth RM326, 389.44.

“The drugs were concealed in yellow-green plastic packages labelled “Guangyiwang,” presumably to evade detection,” she said. 

She said the second arrest took place at 1pm at the KKIA. “An 18-year-old suspect, also arriving from Peninsular Malaysia, was found with 10 green plastic packages containing suspected methamphetamine.

“This batch weighed 10,194gm and was valued at approximately RM341,340. The packaging method was similar to the first case,” she said. 

She said both individuals are believed to be drug mules, noting their young age.

“The department is conducting further investigations to uncover potential links to larger drug syndicates,” she said. 

Both cases are being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. If convicted, the suspects could face mandatory death sentences or life imprisonment.
