Another 206 litres diesel seized in Penampang

Kota Kinabalu: The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) in Sabah cracked down on the diversion of diesel oil through Ops Tiris at Jalan Datuk Panglima Banting in Penampang on Monday.
Its Director, Georgie Abas, said a team of officers from the Sabah KPDN Headquarters raided a box lorry that made a purchase of diesel fuel at a petrol station at 11am.

“Further inspection found that the lorry had an additional fibre-type tank installed at the back of the lorry suspected to contain approximately 206 litres of diesel oil.
“The lorry and diesel fuel were subsequently confiscated for further investigation because the driver failed to produce any documents or permission from KPDN to purchase and carry diesel fuel stored in an additional tank other than the vehicle’s fuel tank,” he said.
Georgie said the total value of the seizure amounted to RM30,442.
“A 31-year-old local lorry driver was also detained for the purpose of assisting in the investigation.

“The case will be investigated under Section 21 of the Control of Supply Act 1961 for possession of a controlled item with the intention of committing an offense under the Control of Supply Act 1961 (Act 122),” he said.
Last Friday night, KPDN detained a four-wheel-drive and a lorry both containing a total of 1,500 litres diesel in additional tanks while trying to purchase the diesel at a petrol station in Jalan Penampang.

The seizure of 1,500 litres of diesel oil, an Isuzu Trooper and a Toyota Dyna including the tanks, pumps and hoses were worth RM43,855.
