Kota Kinabalu: Four illegal immigrants were jailed four months each for entering the State illegally.
The illegal immigrants aged between 32 and 50 admitted separately to the charge against them.
They were arrested in the city and Penampang after they failed to produce their identity documents to the police recently.
They were charged under Section 6(1)© of the Immigration Act 1959/63 which provides for a jail term of up to five years, or a fine of up to RM10,000, on conviction.
During mitigation, they told the court that they had been in the State between several months and years and worked as labourers and fishermen.
They asked to be deported as soon as possible.
The illegal immigrants were ordered to serve their jail sentence from the date of arrests.
After serving the jail sentence, the illegal immigrants were ordered to be referred to the Immigration Department for deportation.
