Kota Kinabalu: Dengan ramai pembeli di bandar ini membiasakan diri dengan larangan beg plastik sejak 1 Ogos, kedai-kedai di sini mula menghantar beg yang tidak digunakan ke daerah lain di mana larangan belum dilaksanakan, seperti Penampang.
Kempen “Tiada Beg Plastik” Dewan Bandaraya Kota Kinabalu (DBKK) dijangka mengurangkan jumlah plastik yang dibuang berakhir di laut, menyebabkan pencemaran dan membahayakan hidupan marin.

“Tanpa larangan di seluruh negeri, beg plastik masih akan berakhir di longkang yang mengalir ke sungai dan ke laut, seperti Sungai Petagas yang mengalir ke daerah Penampang dan Putatan, yang menyumbang kepada sampah beg plastik di sekitar pantai Tanjung Aru dan kawasan pantai lain,” kata seorang pengguna.
Dia berkata ini masih menimbulkan ancaman mikroplastik memasuki makanan kita melalui makanan laut,” kata seorang pembaca Daily Express yang enggan namanya disiarkan.
