This programme was held to bring the community closer together through the art of pencak silat as well as proving that the Pitas district could also make a name for itself at a higher level, he said after paying a courtesy visit to the Yang di-Pertua Negeri, Tun Juhar Mahiruddin at Istana Seri Kinabalu, on Monday.
According to him, the purpose of the visit was to invite Tun Juhar to present certificates to the participants who had completed the programme at an appreciation ceremony in the state capital in Sept.
“It is hoped that Tun Juhar’s presence will inspire the younger generation and the martial art associations to continue to dignify the art through beneficial activities,” he said.
Also present were Assistant District Officers of Pitas, Lee Chun Kiat, Asdi @Mohd Faizal Hussin and Johari Abdullah and Pitas Puspanita Chairman Saridah Ariffin.
