Anwar repeatedly talked about the need for unity and understanding among all Malaysians, regardless of ethnicity or religion.
Kota Kinabalu: PM Anwar called for a future beyond racial and provincial divisions, that upholds justice and genuine concern for all citizens.
“I envision a new chapter in Malaysian history. A history that aims to blunt the understanding of racism, provincialism and narrow-mindedness.

He also made a special appeal to youths, while acknowledging their important role in shaping the country’s future.
“It is the youths who must set the direction and not be deceived or bribed until they forget the basis of this struggle.”
Throughout his speech, Anwar who is also PKR President, repeatedly talked about the need for unity and understanding among all Malaysians, regardless of ethnicity or religion.

“If I want Christians to respect me as a Muslim, I must respect them as Christians and their beliefs,” he said calling for mutual respect among different faiths.

He also commended Sabah’s firm stance on defending its sovereignty against any foreign threats and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to addressing development issues in the State.
“We inherited many problems and it’s not possible to solve everything in just a few months. But what’s clearly different is our approach. We do not compromise with abuse of power and leaders stealing the people’s property. This principle applies to all states, including Sabah,” he said.
“Sabah has unique challenges, including hardcore poverty, water and electricity issues and poor road conditions.
“The Federal Government is working closely with the State Government to address these problems,” he said, citing increased allocations and targeted policies.
He said the total allocation for Sabah in 2024 reached RM16 billion, a significant increase from previous years. He said exempting Sabah from targeted diesel price subsidy increases showed that the Federal recognises the State’s specific needs.
He pointed to recent economic improvements, noting that the Ringgit is currently at its strongest in 14 years.
“This success is attributed to government policies and strength of the unity government,” he said.
He also highlighted Malaysia’s growing international standing, mentioning upcoming visits to China, Japan, the United States, Australia, and Germany, as well as invitations from world leaders like Russian President Vladimir Putin and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“This is not because of Anwar, but because Anwar represents our beloved country Malaysia, which is now rising as a great country in this region,” he said.
On the political front, he urged PKR members to reinvigorate the party’s presence in Sabah.
“I want Keadilan to rise in Sabah today. Rise to fight for the people of Sabah, not defend outdated leaders.”
He encouraged them to increase their activities, strengthen branches and work effectively to represent the interests of Sabahans.
