WeChat Pay to discontinue ewallet service in Malaysia Sept. 1

Kota Kinabalu: WeChat, one of the popular messaging applications from China, has announced that they will end the WeChat Pay Malaysia service effective Sept. 1 this year, it has been reported.

This step is said to be taken as a strategy to adjust their business, Amanz reported.

WeChat Pay Malaysia will no longer accept new digital wallet user registrations starting this August and will subsequently terminate the payment service effective Sept. 1. 

Users can withdraw funds from WeChat Pay Malaysia until Dec. 31 this year.
