Kota Kinabalu: Sabah FC II finally got off the mark by registering their first point following the 1-1 draw with Kuching City FC 1-1 in the MFL Cup match at Likas Stadium, Tuesday night.
Rozaimi Abd Rahman opened the scoring for Sabah FC II in the 25th minute but the team were unable to keep the lead as they let in the equaliser by Gabriel Batistuta in the 57th minute.
Head coach Alto Linus was happy to see his players manage to carry out the instruction as demanded by him.
“Overall I am satisfied, because what I saw in this match is what we have been doing in training all this time.
“However, we were unable to maintain the momentum as some players looked tired and lost their focus as the match progressed,” he said after the match.
He hoped the five-week break will give him the chance to draw up a more dynamic strategy and more intense training routine.
“There’s a lot of homework to do after this. We’ll be off for five weeks and that’s good for the team where we have a lot of work to do.
“For us, it is an opportunity and time for us to prepare in terms of fitness, tactics to strengthen the team in preparation for the next match.”
Sabah FC II’s next match is against Kelantan Darul Naim under-23 away on September 18.
