Sabah Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency to have own headquarters by 2027

Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (APMM) will have its own headquarters building in Sepanggar.
Acting Director General of Maritime Malaysia, Maritime Vice Admiral Datuk Saiful Lizan Ibrahim said it is currently preparing the documents and land survey.
ADVERTISEMENT “When this process is completed around 2025, we will start the construction and hopefully by 2027 the building will be completed and fully operational.
“Currently, the Sabah and Federal Territory of Labuan APMM Headquarters are operating in the Kolombong Industrial Area,” he told the media shortly after paying a courtesy call on Juhar at Istana Seri Kinabalu, Monday.
According to Saiful, the visit was to inform Juhar about the latest developments of APMM, the latest status of assets and buildings as well as the future planning of
APMM in Sabah waters including human resource development, in addition to planning the establishment of a Maritime Air Unit Station in Sandakan.
ADVERTISEMENT “This air unit will house four new APMM helicopters, namely the Agusta Westland AW189 which is currently being built in Italy and is likely to be received from the supplier in stages from the end of 2025.
“Apart from that, APMM is also planning to build a Forward Post on Sebatik Island which will house speed boat assets to deal with issues of security threats and smuggling in Tawau waters.
ADVERTISEMENT “As of July this year, a total of 19,180 physical inspection operations (searches), 37,353 visual, radio and radar inspections and 370 arrests have been carried out by APMM around Sabah waters,” he said.
Also participating in the visit were the Director of APMM Sabah and the Federal Territory of Labuan Maritime First Admiral Datuk Che Engku Suhaimi Che Engku Daik, Director of Engineering Maritime Admiral Hamizan Harun, Director Development Admiral Zulinda Ramly, Director of Maritime Enforcement and Coordination Maritime Admiral Mohd Zawawi Abdullah and Sabah Maritime Management Deputy Director Siti Norhaini Osli.
