Kota Kinabalu International Airport handled 4.5 million passengers so far this year

On the airport’s Phase One toilet upgrading project, it was pointed out that the ongoing refurbishment of five existing toilets costing RM2.5 million is estimated to be completed by mid-September, while Phase Two involving the refurbishment of 21 existing toilets is expected to commence in October.
Kota Kinabalu: The Kota Kinabalu International Airport (KKIA) handled 4,578,661 passengers from Jan. 1 to Aug. 5 as reported by Malaysia Airports Sdn Bhd (MASB) Senior Airport Manager (KKIA) Hj Jefry Ramli, State Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment Datuk Christina Liew, said.
Liew was briefed on the current status of passenger movement and facilities at KKIA during the minister’s post-Cabinet meeting on Wednesday.
ADVERTISEMENT “When compared with 5,576,110 passengers for the corresponding period (January 1 to August 5, 2019), the overall recovery rate against 2019 is 82pc.
“For the domestic segment, the recovery rate is 92pc while that of the international segment is 63pc,” she said, Thursday.

As for preparations for the upcoming National-level Malaysia Day celebration on September 16, hosted by the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Environment (KePKAS), Liew and Minister of Communications Fahmi Fadzil will co-chair a meeting of the Celebration Main Organising Committee next week to finalise the details.
