Tambalang’s Race 4 expected to be a hotly contested affair
Sabah Ace (No. 9) is entered for Race 8.
Kota Kinabalu: Tambalang Race 4 (Class B) this Sunday is expected to be hotly-contested with as many as eight runners sniping for top spot over 1200m sand track. Choice pick should be the ever-dependable Magic Light, followed by Silent Arrow who is focused and can run hard when challenged.

Forever Princess and First September complete the challenger list.

Jian Cheng did not show up at all against Class 2 opponents on July 27. His last couple of poor runs also does not inspire confidence.

However, he may surprise at Class B level, bringing smiles to the faithful supporters.

For Race 3 (Class 5), Ratu First is fancied with Cooler Than Ice, Simpangan Girl and Bolivian Gorgeous in the running.  Consider Aqis and Gold Dream for minor placings as well.

This Sunday sees the running of the prestigious Raffles Cup Group 1 (Race 9) over 1600m in Singapore.

Lim’s Kosciuszko is clear favourite going into this race.

His career of 21 wins out of 25 runs has been extraordinary, and he is adored by racing fans.

He will certainly go down in Kranji’s racing annals as legend.

The only foreseeable threat is likely to come from his stable mate a.k.a. heir apparent, the youthful Lim’s Saltoro.  With a remarkable record of 9 wins out of 10 runs, Lim’s Saltoro has youthful energy and is prepared for the task at hand. Golden Monkey loves racing from behind and has the engine for a superlative run in the last 200 metres.

Royal Sabah Turf Club’s Sabah Star is slated to run at Race 2 in Singapore and based on recent form, he is unlikely to contend for top places.

The returning Sabah Ace is entered for Race 8. Rested since April, he makes his awaited comeback against proven ones in Asif, So High Class and Lim’s Bighorn. Sabah Ace is a tough nut and should not be ruled out even though he is not at competitive best level yet.

For this Saturday (Selangor and Australia meetings) and Sunday (Tambalang, Singapore & Selangor meetings) race details and timings, visit the Royal Sabah Turf Club website or follow the Club on Facebook.
