Rescue workers stop fire from spreading at Sandakan PPR flat

SANDAKAN: The Fire and Rescue Department extinguished a fire in a room at the People’s Housing Project (PPR) Flat Taman Mesra on Friday, preventing it from spreading and destroying nearby homes.
Sandakan Fire and Rescue Station Chief Severinus @ Mohd Nidzam Sankui said his team rushed to the scene after receiving an emergency call at 9am.
ADVERTISEMENT “When we arrived at the location, there was a fire on the 1st floor of the flat.
“The team quickly launched a firefighting operation using a single water stream from the engine.
“The firefighting operation was completed at 10am, and we managed to prevent the fire from spreading to other houses,” he said.
He added that the fire affected only one room in the house.
ADVERTISEMENT No casualties were reported. The cause and extent of the damage are still under investigation.
