SANDAKAN: The mentality of visitors to the public recreation park at Pasir Putih Beach, located along Batu Sapi Road, has yet to change, as evidenced by the piles of rubbish left behind by visitors.

Karamunting Community Development Leader Datuk Chew Kok Woh, who recently visited the area, expressed his disappointment with the attitude of some Sandakan residents.

Due to its location, Pasir Putih Beach attracts many visitors, especially on weekends and during school holidays.

Therefore, the local authorities have upgraded the recreation park by providing facilities such as resting huts, barbecue spots, and large rubbish bins.

“However, there are still visitors who fail to practice environmental responsibility,” said Chew. “The irresponsible behaviour of these visitors burdens the local authorities with cleaning popular areas in Sandakan.

“Visitors should manage their rubbish properly and dispose of it in the bins provided to prevent other animals, such as dogs and rats, from frequenting the recreation park.” Chew also advised visitors to Pantai Pasir Putih to take care of the public facilities provided by the local authorities in the recreation park.
