Don’t shift the goalposts, Wan Fayhsal tells Rafizi on proposed debate
Bersatu Youth chief Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal (left) has called on economy minister Rafizi Ramli to set up a neutral ground for their debate.
PETALING JAYA: PETALING JAYA: Bersatu Youth chief Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal has slammed economy minister Rafizi Ramli for shifting the goalposts after the latter agreed to debate him on the economy.

Previously, Wan Fayhsal had challenged Rafizi to a live debate, instead of a podcast discussion as Rafizi had suggested, on the controversy surrounding Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB), Global Infrastructure Partners and BlackRock.

"Don’t try to shift the goalposts. The people want to hear the debate about MAHB selling shares to a pro-Zionist company," he said in a video posted on TikTok.

The Machang MP also said he was willing to battle it out solo against both Rafizi and communications minister Fahmi Fadzil.

"Rafizi and Fahmi against me alone, no problem. Set up a neutral place (for the debate), and we can go all the way," said Wan Fayhsal.

Rafizi took to X yesterday to say that they should debate on how to

"stimulate the economy by printing money" – ostensibly a jab at Wan Fayhsal’s suggested solution in 2020.

In view of the cost of a live debate, he said he would discuss with RTM, Astro and other platforms on hosting the debate

"for the sake of Malaysia’s economy", he sardonically wrote.

Wan Fayhsal had suggested in 2020, during his tenure as deputy youth and sports minister in a podcast organised by BFM radio, that Bank Negara Malaysia print more money and directly hand the cash to Malaysians.
