Kota Kinabalu: Sabah FC are back to winning ways as they defeated Sri Pahang FC 3-2 away at the Stadium Temerloh, Friday.
Despite trailing seven minutes into the game after Kpah Sherman scored the opener, Sabah FC were able to equalise through Jafri Chew in the 20th minute from a pass by Darren Lok.
ADVERTISEMENT Six minutes later, they took the lead with a strike from Mohd Farhan Roslan before Daniel Ting jumped high to head in the third goal from a corner kick in the 35th minute.
However, any chance of a comfortable win was dashed when Kpah Kipman scored his second of the match, three minutes after the restart.
Despite the immense pressure in the remaining half, Sabah FC were able to hold firm to come home with all three points.
Head coach Datuk Ong Kim Swee praised his defence but admitted that they were also lucky to get all three points after the match.

“However, we were under a lot of pressure in the second half after Sri Pahang scored rather early.

“This put pressure on all the players, but credit to the defence and we were also lucky today Sri Pahang failed to convert their chances,” he said.
He added that he was forced to make some adjustment following the absence of some key players in defence.
“We have a lot of injuries in the team such as in defence where Gabriel Peres was unable to play while Rawilson Batuil was suspended.
“As a result, I had to make some adjustments in the department and also in midfield.”
Meanwhile, the win also put Sabah back to third place with 13 points after seven games played, same with Selangor FC in second place who have a better goal difference.
Their next match is against Selangor FC at Likas Stadium on August 13.
