Quotas for native women urged
“A quota system is essential in communities where patriarchy still dominates, ensuring that indigenous women are not left out but are given equal opportunities,” Lasimbang said.
Kota Kinabalu: Indigenous women have been marginalised for generations in decision-making and leadership roles and this must change, according to Kapayan Assemblywoman Jannie Lasimbang.

Advocating for a quota system to address the deep-rooted patriarchy and discrimination within certain communities, she emphasised the pivotal role of indigenous women in self-determination and leadership.
