Minister being dropped?: Haven’t heard anything, Anwar says
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said a menteri besar may be moved to the Cabinet after the next election.
Kuala Lumpur: Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has denied any knowledge of a possible Cabinet reshuffle following news that a prominent minister would be dropped from the lineup.

"I haven’t heard anything," he told reporters at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre here today.

Earlier today, FMT reported a well-placed source from PKR as saying that a prominent minister from the party would either be moved to another ministry or dropped from the Cabinet.

According to the source, the minister’s performance had been "in question".

A menteri besar, meanwhile, is believed to be taking a ministerial post, the source said.

When asked to comment on the claim about the menteri besar being made a minister, Anwar merely said: "After the next election, God willing."

Earlier, another source from DAP also confirmed talk of a Cabinet reshuffle that could take place by the end of August, with a couple of deputy ministers set to be promoted to ministerial roles.

Separately, a corporate source said a minister’s team had cited the impending reshuffle as the reason given for the last-minute cancellation of the minister’s appearance at a company event this month.

The last reshuffle in December saw the Cabinet expanded from 29 ministers to 31.

DAP’s V Sivakumar was axed as human resources minister. Two men returned as ministers – Amanah’s Dzulkefly Ahmad as health minister and Johari Ghani of Umno as plantation and commodities minister – while several ministers swapped portfolios.
