PETALING JAYA: Police have arrested 10 people and are on the manhunt for four more suspects in connection with the kidnapping of a couple near the Maju Expressway toll plaza on July 11.
Selangor police chief Hussein Omar Khan said they seized cash amounting to RM1.5 million and numerous luxury items, as well as several vehicles believed to have been purchased using the ransom money.

The victims, a male Chinese national and a local woman, were released on the evening of July 15 by the roadside along the Pedas-Linggi route in Negeri Sembilan, about four days after they were kidnapped.
The couple was released after the brother of the Chinese national paid a ransom in cryptocurrency amounting to US$1,161,127 (RM5,457,290) to the kidnappers.
Hussein said the 10 suspects arrested include six men and four women, while another three men and a woman are still on the run.

According to Hussein, one of the 18 suspects used to work as the male victim’s personal driver and had aided in the kidnapping.

Early this month, police shot dead four suspects believed to be part of the kidnapping ring in Johor Bahru, Johor.
Separately, on the case of the 14-year-old girl who impersonated a medical officer in Serdang, Hussein said she was found to have received psychiatric treatment in March but missed subsequent appointments.
She is mentally and emotionally disturbed. We have referred her to the social welfare department for counselling before submitting the investigation paper to the deputy public prosecutor.
The teenager, who is currently out on police bail, was arrested at the lobby of the Sultan Idris Shah Hospital in Serdang on Aug 8.
According to Hussein, she had been going in and out of the hospital for a week prior to her arrest, which was made after police received a report from a hospital staff about an unidentified girl in an operating theatre.
Meanwhile, Hussein said the police officer who was one of seven people detained for processing ketum juice following a raid in Cheras last week, claimed that the ketum was only for personal use.
He said the case is still under investigation.
