Kota Kinabalu: Preparations for the Malaysia Day celebration to be held on Sept 16 at Padang Merdeka here are proceeding smoothly, said Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil.
He said Sabah is hosting this year’s celebration, which will begin at 8pm and feature several exciting activities and performances.
ADVERTISEMENT He said the event will include cultural performances, traditional and contemporary songs, as well as exhibitions highlighting the history of Malaysia’s formation and key aspects related to the nation.
“There are some protocol-related aspects that we will witness every Malaysia Day (Sept 16), but at the same time, there will be additional activities, particularly cultural performances.
“That is what will set each celebration apart from the others. Therefore, I urge the people of Sabah to come out in large numbers and celebrate Malaysia Day,” he told reporters here, Monday.
Earlier, Fahmi and Sabah Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Christina Liew co-chaired the Malaysia Day Main Committee Meeting at the Sabah International Convention Centre here.

“With the cooperation, support and commitment given by all, I am confident that this year’s Malaysia Day celebration will be smooth, lively and successful,” Liew said.
