Venture into tourism sector, Ranau folks told

RANAU: Ranau MP Datuk Jonathan Yasin called on the residents here to improve the economy of their families and communities by venturing into tourism industry.
“It should be noted that tourism is such a huge industry, especially in the Ranau district.

“Many venues have proven that the returns from this industry, even if they were run privately without government assistance, are able to earn a lucrative income.”
He said this while officiating the National Month and Sabah Day celebrations held in Kg Rugading and Kg Gaur, near here, recently.
“The celebration has been planned for a long time to be held in this village, which is jointly organised by the residents of Kg Rugading and Kg Gaur.
“The decision to choose this location as the venue for the celebration this year is because the area is another tourist destination in the Ranau district which is currently developing.

“We deliberately chose this place because of the fresh, beautiful and interesting environment, even though the road to this place which is a recreational area has not yet been fully upgraded,” he said.
According to Jonathan, an alternative road may be opened to encourage visitors to go there.

Jonathan also called on the residents to take advantage of the various services and programmes provided by government departments and agencies for activities such as fishing and tagal.
