Kota Kinabalu: The Foh Sang Mid-Autumn Carnival is set to be the grandest this year, spanning four days from Sept 14 to 17 and coinciding with Malaysia Day (Sept 16), which Luyang Assemblyman Datuk Phoong Jin Zhe plans to use as a platform for unity.

He wants the stage to showcase the diverse ethnic backgrounds of Sabah through a line-up of 100 group and individual cultural performances that are usually reserved for formal settings.

“This will be our longest carnival and we have worked with tourist groups to arrange for visits. Previously, it was only for two days.

“There will be 100 food stalls. The two-page waiting list for this has increased to 10 pages,” he told a press conference, Tuesday.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor is invited to complete the event organised by the Luyang Sejahtera Community and the Luyang Assembly office.

“Traffic would still be a challenge. Even with the multi-storey carpark, I advise you to take e-hailing. There will be notices of road closures for the 6pm-11pm event.

“The spirit is that we never invited VVIP singers as we want to squeeze more time to let the people enjoy the stage.

“And the big moon is coming back, don’t worry. The big moon would always be there,” he said of the huge inflatable moon as a popular attraction he introduced in 2022.
