PAPAR: Papar will soon have a new grand ballroom to serve as a venue for conferences, receptions, banquets and events hosted by the local and nearby communities.
Taking up the entire first floor above 10Star Cinemas at Parklane City, the 12,000 square feet space is divided into the grand ballroom and private rooms with a total capacity of 1,000 pax.

Furthermore, the ballroom will be fitted with a high-quality sound system and LED screen, while its design will maximise the view of the beautiful sunset.
10Star Cinemas Sdn Bhd signed a lease agreement with the WSG Group to establish its flagship 10Star Ballroom in Papar, on Tuesday.
10Star Cinemas Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Onn Norshal Hamzah said the company is investing up to RM1 million for renovation of the ballroom.
“We are currently doing renovations and the equipment, which is mainly from overseas, should arrive by September.

“Our target is to get the ballroom ready in October this year,” he said.
In fact, Onn Norshal said the company already has bookings for personal and family events, as well as those from organisations, societies and schools.

He also expressed his appreciation to the WSG Group, helmed by its managing director, Datuk Susan Wong Siew Guen, for being very helpful and supportive of the company’s projects.
More importantly, he said the company and Susan share the same vision to develop the community and build a brand for the area.
“The WSG Group has provided us with great support since day one.
“We are happy to collaborate with the developer at other sites in the future,” Onn Norshal said. He said the company sees the potential for a grand ballroom in Papar as there are few places for the communities to organise events.
He added that more 10Star Ballrooms will be opened in other districts, including Tawau and Sandakan. Onn Norshal said 10Star Cinemas is currently the largest cinema chain in Sabah and operates at six sites.
He said the company will open its seventh cinema in Penampang and move on to Keningau and Kundasang.
Meanwhile, Susan said she thanked 10Star Cinemas for having the vision to invest in a cinema and banquet hall in Parklane City to cater for the needs of Paparians.
“The cinema has made Parklane City a vibrant entertainment spot and the talk of the town,” she said in a statement here.
She said a café will also be set up outside the cinema for moviegoers.
“Residents in Papar, Beaufort and nearby districts are happy to have an entertainment centre and ballroom here.
“Chinese associations will be able to host their programmes here as well. I am confident that the ballroom will be in high demand by the end of the year,” she said.
