Kota Kinabalu: City Hall (DBKK) said their Landscape Department cleaned the Maybank building, Thursday, after the location gained popularity among tourists and locals alike for its photogenic appeal.

DBKK said their team also took the opportunity to take a photo at the viral attraction.

On another Facebook post earlier the same day, DBKK said it carried out the removal of wild plants growing on the buildings on Gaya Street.

“The operation involving 10 personnel is part of an ongoing effort starting July 12, in conjunction with the Gaya Street Cleaning Operation organised by DBKK, in collaboration with the Api-Api Night Food Market vendors,” the post wrote.

In addition to the Maybank building, DBKK said they also focused on trimming trees around other commercial premises, particularly in the Sinsuran area, to maintain a pleasant environment for both locals and visitors.

“City Hall will continue to intensify efforts to maintain and sustain the image of Kota Kinabalu as a green and liveable city,” the post read.

The clean-up of the Maybank building is particularly timely, given its recent rise to fame as a viral photo-shooting attraction on social media platforms like Xiaohongshu.
