SIPITANG: A house in Kampung Melamam here suffered extensive damage when a tree fell on it Tuesday morning.
Fortunately, the homeowner and his family were attending a school sporting event at the time of the incident, which occurred around 10.30am.

“We’re thankful we weren’t home. The outcome could have been tragic otherwise,” the relieved homeowner said.
Junaidah Makku, a representative from the Sindumin Community Development Leaders Unit (UPPM), promptly responded to the scene and alerted the Civil Defence Force for assistance.

UPPM provided food aid to the affected family and hoped for their resilience in the face of this adversity.
Junaidah thanked the Civil Defence Force for their tree removal efforts.
She also said local officials, including Sindumin Assemblyman cum Qhazanah Sdn Bhd Chairman Datuk Dr. Yusof Yaccob and Sipitang MP Datuk Matbali Musah, visited the site.
Both Dr Yusof and Matbali offered financial support for home repairs and encouraged the family to remain strong during this challenging time, she said.
