Ranau motorists look forward to project upgrade completion

RANAU: The people here can breathe a sigh of relief after a 6km road upgrading project was launched by the Minister of Finance Sabah, Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun.
The project upgrades the gravel road into a paved road connecting Mohimboyon, Lipantai and Pahu.
ADVERTISEMENT The road poses safety risk to locals for years, particularly during the rainy season when it becomes slippery.
According to Masidi, the project, which began on March 25, is a comprehensive effort involving extensive earthworks, constructing a new concrete bridge as well as drainage and slope protection systems.
Additionally, the project includes installing road furniture to ensure safety and convenience for all users and is scheduled for completion on March 24, 2027.
“This project is of critical importance for the local community. The upgrade is not merely an infrastructure enhancement but an essential step towards improving the quality of life for the people of Ranau.

“The new road will not only provide safer journeys for residents but will also facilitate quicker access to markets, schools and essential services.
“With the upgrading of this particular road, we hope it will lead to better economic opportunities for the rural community,” said Masidi.

The upgraded road will also be an alternative route to Ranau town, particularly during peak traffic hours.
It will help alleviate congestion and ensure smoother traffic flow around schools and town area.
The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by government officials, local leaders and community members, who expressed their strong support for the project and the benefits it promises to bring to Ranau.
