Kota Kinabalu: The Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) is confident of securing at least one seat in the upcoming State election.
Specifically, the party is targeting the west coast region, according party deputy president Datuk Yong Wui Chung.

He said this during the joint divisional conference cum elections in Inanam on Sunday.
Yong highlighted the LDP’s strong presence in the west coast, with 10 divisions and a dedicated membership base.

He attributed this strength to the hard work and dedication of LDP members in serving the local communities, which he believes has earned them significant support.
“As the deputy president of LDP, I promise that the party president Datuk Chin Su Phin, secretary general Datuk Chin Shu Ying, and I will strive to field our candidate to represent GRS in at least a state seat in the west coast,” Yong said.
He further emphasised the party’s preparedness for the election, stating that their team is fully prepared and confident in achieving victory.
Yong also commended Public Complaints Bureau chief, Chin Vun Pheaw, and his team for their efforts in resolving livelihood issues faced by the local communities, attributing the party’s regained support to their proactiveness.
While confident in their ability to win a seat, LDP is also emphasizing the importance of unity and support for GRS.
Yong urged LDP members to remain united and support all GRS candidates in the upcoming election, highlighting GRS as the best choice for Sabahans and expressing confidence in the coalition’s ability to lead Sabah towards progress and prosperity.
The conference also saw the election of new division chairmen, with Datuk Yong Wui Chung, Nicholas Ban, and Nicholas Voo Vune Kett securing the positions for Inanam, Sulaman, and Karambunai divisions respectively.
The three divisions passed a motion to nominate Datuk Chin Su Phin for the president’s post and Yong for the deputy president’s position in the upcoming party election.
The LDP’s strategic approach to the upcoming state election, focusing on securing a west coast seat and supporting GRS, underscores the party’s commitment to local representation and its belief in the potential of a strong GRS government to advance Sabah’s interests.
