SEMPORNA: A 26-year-old man was fined RM20,000 in default six months’ jail for having 2,080 litres of petrol without a licence.
Abdullah Asadan pleaded guilty, Wednesday, before Session Court Judge Ahmad Faizadh Yahaya.

The accused was found having the controlled goods without a permit when he was detained by police, off Singgah Mata waters, Pulau Bum Bum.
When detained, Abdullah was found having 2,080 litres of petrol placed inside 70 jerry cans inside the wooden boat. The accused was also found not having any license or permit to own the controlled item.

The offence under Section 20(1) of the Supply Control Act 1961 and punishable under Section 22(1) of the same Act carries a fine of up to RM1 million, or a jail term of up to three years, or both, on conviction.
