Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency - JaPen collab to share government info with the people

SANDAKAN: The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) is dedicated to collaborating with the State Information Department (JaPen) to effectively share government information.

State Maritime Director and Labuan Federal Territory First Maritime Admiral, Datuk Che Engku Suhaimi Che Engku Daik, said the partnership with JaPen would ensure that crucial information is disseminated not only on land but also across national waters.

“In our collaboration with JaPen, which began last year, we have communicated a significant amount of information that, until now, was primarily shared within the maritime community and not with the general public through ‘Info On Boat’,” Suhaimi said.

“Through this collaboration, maritime-related information and our activities at sea are now more widely communicated, which serves as a stepping stone for our agency to enhance the image of Maritime and increase our visibility nationwide,” Suhaimi said after officiating the Merdeka Jalur Gemilang Convoy (KMJG) at the District Level 2024, held at the Sandakan MMEA Zone Complex.

“We are very excited to be part of this collaboration, especially since it’s our first time participating in such an initiative. When we were offered the opportunity to collaborate, our entire team was eager to get involved,” he said.

“For the first time, we engaged with the community, leaders, and other agencies at sea, making the Merdeka celebration even more vibrant.

“If programmes like this continue, they can complement the land-based celebrations by extending them to the sea, and we are thrilled to be part of this year’s Merdeka festivities.”

Suhaimi also reiterated MMEA’s commitment to maintaining close cooperation with other government agencies, particularly JaPen, in future community-focused programmes in Sabah.

Meanwhile, Senator Anna Bell @ Suzieana Perian said national programmes should be expanded to islands in Sabah to fuel the spirit of patriotism among the communities.

“The extraordinary response of the residents of Tanjung Aru Island and Berhala Island to the KMJG 2024 Convoy showed their excitement to jointly enliven the National Month.

She hoped the Federal and State government agencies would continue to hold programmes like KMJG for island communities.

JaPen Sabah Director Jainisah Mohd Noor said since its inception of KMJG in 2022, this is the first that the convoy made the waters part of its route to bring the message of independence and nationhood to all corners of the State.

“Every year, we try to carry out this KMJG convoy to present a difference in each of our journey.

“We also introduced some changes last year and this year we introduce another change, implementing the convoy using water transport. We have been collaborating with MMEA to deliver info to water areas via ‘On Wheel X Info On Boat’,” said Jainisah.
