KENINGAU: The diverse community in the interior regions eagerly anticipates the inaugural celebration of Sabah Day on Aug 31 at Padang Merdeka, Kota Kinabalu, following its gazettement by the State Government on June 5.
Chairman of Bingkor Community Welfare Association, Haji Yazid Haji Mohd Hasnan Charles, said the celebration of Sabah Day marks a historic moment for the people of Sabah, something they had waited for so long.

He said the establishment of Sabah Day allows Sabahans to reflect on the state’s achievement of self-independence 61 years ago.
“This also signifies the establishment of self-governance and independence from British colonial rule,” Yazid said.
