BEAUFORT: The difficulties faced by residents travelling between Naparan and Kapawa will soon be over following the road upgrade project connecting the two villages.
Lumadan Assemblyman Datuk Ruslan Muharam said the work to upgrade the 1.8km road has started and is expected to be completed by the end of August.
ADVERTISEMENT “The State Government has allocated RM1 million for the main road paving project for Kampung Naparan and Kapawa which is badly damaged because it has never been maintained for the past 38 years.
“This situation has previously made it difficult for residents, especially during the dry and rainy seasons because the road is the main route either to town, farm or carrying bodies to the cemetery.
"The upgrade work is now more than 50 per cent complete.
Once completed, it will benefit some 1,200 residents,” he said when met while visiting the implementation of the project on Tuesday.

Ruslan said that the upgrading work is for the people’s convenience.
He said apart from the main road of Kampung Naparan-Kapawa, the same project in several villages would also be implemented.

“This is one of our efforts to safeguard the interests of the people because most of the village’s roads have never been upgraded to the point of making the daily activities of the residents difficult,” he said.
