Tuaran: People in the State are urged to continue flying the Jalur Gemilang and Sabah flag either at their homes, vehicles or premises to celebrate the National Month, said State Rural Development Minister Datuk Jahid Jahim.
Speaking on behalf of Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, he said the people should participate in the “1 House 1 Jalur Gemilang” initiative, which gives every individual the opportunity to show love and appreciation for the country.

“By flying the Jalur Gemilang and the Sabah flag in every house, we not only enliven the atmosphere of Independence Day but also strengthen the bond as Malaysians,” he said at the launch of the 2024 Jalur Gemilang Independence Journey Programme (KMJG) at Tuaran district level at the Tenghilan Town Community Hall.
According to him, this year is a special year especially for the people of Sabah because it is the first time that National Day and Sabah Day are officially celebrated simultaneously after Sabah Day was officially gazetted on June 5, this year.

He added that the KMJG programme is not just an annual event, but a symbol of our unity, pride and gratitude as Malaysians.
“It reminds us of the sacrifices and hard work of the national heroes who have fought for the freedom and prosperity that we are enjoying until today,” he said.
