TAWAU: The IoT-Controlled Solar-Powered Ultra-Clean Water Treatment Technology Project implemented in Kampung Brantian will greatly benefit the local community.

Sebatik Assemblyman Datuk Hassan A Gani Pg Amir said the project was carried out under the Malaysian Social Innovation Initiative Programme (MyIS Komuniti), an initiative under the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (Mosti) and the Malaysian Innovation Foundation (YIM).

He said the programme was implemented from 2015 to 2020 and continued from 2021 to the present.

“The State Government welcomes the implementation of this project, with Kampung Brantian being selected as the first recipient in Sabah because it will benefit the villagers,” he said while officiating the project, recently.

Hassan said the initiative by Mosti and YIM aims to apply technology to meet social needs.

The theme, “Merakyatkan Sains, Menginsankan Teknologi”, underscores the project’s objective to improve the well-being of the community through the application of locally developed technology and innovation that is ready for sustainable implementation.

“This aligns with the Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) 2021-2025 development plan, particularly in the area of ‘Infrastructural Network and Green Sustainability,’” he said.

Hassan hopes the residents of Kampung Brantian will effectively use the Water Treatment Technology System for the common good, with monitoring by village leaders and officers from the Community Leaders Unit (UPPM) of Sebatik.

He is confident that with strong support from all parties, this project will continue to provide lasting benefits to the local community.

“Today’s success is proof that with dedication, cooperation, and commitment, we can achieve our aspirations.

“I hope this project serves as a model for future efforts. Let us join hands to ensure the sustainability of this project for the well-being of both present and future generations,” he said.

Hassan also expressed his gratitude to the parties involved in the project, including UiTM, Sirim, Perasa, and the contractors, for their efforts in providing this technology system and selecting Kampung Brantian as the first recipient in the State.
