Gloxinia folks demand end to water woes

PAPAR: Residents of Puncak Gloxinia Condominium are demanding the State Water Department (JANS) and the housing management to immediately resolve the water supply disruption problem that has been plaguing them for so long.
One of the residents, Helvin Ribus, a civil servant, said the problem has been going on for a long time with no effective solution.

“Solve immediately the problem that is troubling the residents. It didn’t just happen for a week but years and there is no solution till now,” he added.
He said the residents received water supply on a ration basis every day between 4pm and 9pm which interfered with their life because they had to catch up on time to collect water.
“Those with school-going children, babies, public and private sector employees are among the most affected,” he lamented.
Another resident, Sharon Raymond Kisil, also a civil servant, said the problem greatly complicated her routine with her family.

“Every day when I wake up in the morning, I have to boil hot water to mix with the water supply in the bucket because the water temperature is too cold when it is stored overnight as there is no tap water supply in the morning due to the rationing schedule,” she said.
“The situation also complicates residents who work in shifts and have to return late at night because when they get home, the water supply has been turned off,” she added.

Sharon said the reason given was there is no other solution to the issue.
“When the residents asked the housing management, they said the disruption was due to a lack of water supply from JANS to the housing’s main tank,” she said, urging both JANS and the housing management to resolve this issue effectively and immediately.
Another resident, Andy Alfonsos, said it was surprising to see the persistent water problem when JANS sourced its water from the Kg Kogopon plant that never dried up.
“What’s baffling is it rains almost every day, but there is still water supply interruptions,” he said.
