SANDAKAN: The Sandakan Municipal Council (SMC) is urged to install closed circuit cameras (CCTV) in areas that are the focus of many in this district.

Community Development Leader (PPM) at the UPPM Headquarters Rizan Aziz said this is important given the district’s potential to become one of the must-visit locations for tourists in Sabah with its unique ecotourism attractions.

He said installing CCTV is also necessary to facilitate related references and make Sandakan a beautiful town.

The Sungai Manila Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (Gagasan Rakyat) Division Deputy Chief said this after officiating a karaoke contest in conjunction with the National Month jointly organised by the Otai Karaoke Kebajikan Group (OKK) and PPM Sabah and PPM Elopura at the Kim Fung Night Market, Batu 4, here, recently.

Rizan said it was a good programme as it attracted more singing talents and an attraction for local and outside visitors to the night market.

OKK Group Operations Director Mokhtar Mohd Neng said the programme not only provides entertainment through singing but could be a medium of therapy and create a harmonious atmosphere where most participants are also elderly people who remain cheerful and prosperous.
