SANDAKAN: Sepilok Jazz is a shining example of how the arts and conservation can work hand in hand to create awareness while also boosting our tourism industry.
Sandakan Member of Parliament, Vivian Wong said event like this play a crucial role in driving local economies and putting Sabah on the map as a destination for eco-tourism and cultural experiences.

Organised by Friends of Sea Turtles Education and Research (Foster), the event will take place on Sept 6 and 7 at the Rainforest Discovery Centre in Sandakan aims to raise crucial funds for sea turtle conservation on Libaran Island.
“As a representative of the people, I am committed to supporting such initiative, which not only protects our wildlife but also celebrates our rich cultural heritage,” she said.

Meanwhile, President of Foster, Alexander Yee shared his enthusiasm for the upcoming event and emphasised the importance of public support.
Alexander said that every ticket purchased contributes directly to the continuation of Foster’s vital sea turtle conservation programme.
“The public’s support is essential for keeping our conservation programmes alive. Every ticket sold represents a step toward protecting our endangered sea turtles, ensuring their survival for future generations.

This year’s Sepilok Jazz 3rd Edition is part of the Sandakan Festival Calendar 2024, approved by the Sandakan Municipal Council (MPS).
Not only does the event help sustain Foster’s sea turtle conservation work, but it also aims to boost Sandakan’s tourism and inspire the younger generation to appreciate both conservation and jazz music, nurturing their talents to new heights.
