Originally, Jurainah was charged, under Section 307 of the Penal Code, with allegedly trying to kill her son but the prosecution had applied for the original charge be withdrawn and granted by the court as the representation letter was accepted by the prosecution.
Jurainah, who was represented by counsel Lim Chun Yuan, applied for a lenient sentence saying that his client is earning from her “kerja kampong”.
Lim informed the court that Jurainah was remorseful and suffered a lot while she was under remand for 16 months.
According to Lim, Jurainah had used her son during the incident to avoid from getting arrested.
However, Deputy Public Prosecutor Al Hakim urged the court to impose a deterrent sentence as Jurainah had used her own child to avoid arrest.
The court heard on the said day, the police went to Jurainah’s house but she refused to cooperate when they knocked on her house door and window.
The police then went into the house through the kitchen door and entered a room by breaking its door to get access to the said room after Jurainah said she had a knife and will hurt her son if the police tried to enter the house.
The police then managed to stop Jurainah and her son was sent to a hospital for treatment.
The son had suffered injury on his right cheek during the incident.
