Rape of girl, 15: 15-year-old among three held

TAWAU: A 15-year-old was among three detained for allegedly raping a 15-year-old girl who was reported missing since Friday.
The girl was eventually found along Jalan Tengku Osman at about 1am on Tuesday.

Tawau District Police Chief ACP Jasmin Hussin said the male suspects, aged between 15 and 29, were arrested at various locations between 9pm and midnight on the day the victim was found.
The arrests came after the victim disclosed she was raped by three individuals she knew in her statement to Tawau police at 3am on Tuesday.
All three suspects are remanded for seven days.
The case is probed under Section 376 (1) of the Penal Code for rape, which carries up to 20 years’ prison and whipping, upon conviction.

Earlier media reports had highlighted the disappearance of the 15-year-old victim, whose absence was noted by her sister when she failed to return home by the evening of Aug 23.
Initially treated as a missing person case, the investigation concluded when the teenager was found in Kg Jawa, along Jalan Tengku Osman, at approximately 1am.
