People urged to avoid open burning
“More serious cases like blown away house roofs are also not reported. But we hope that no such occurrence will happen here until the weather improves,” Ridwan said, advising the public to keep safe.
RANAU: The Fire and Rescue Department of this district advised the public not to burn in the open during the current windy season.

“If burning is unavoidable, it needs to be monitored and controlled to prevent the spread of fire to nearby areas.

“Although currently, open burning is still minor, we hope people will not do any open burning considering the risks as well as the effects produced by such activities, in addition to the health impact on other populations as well as air pollution,” said head of the department, Ridwan Mohd Taib.

“What we hope for is that people here would stop from making any more open burning. In this time of strong wind, it will be quick for the fire to spread and get out of hand,” he said.
