Kota Kinabalu: Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor was praised by the Kota Kinabalu Journalists Association (KKJA) as the only Chief Minister who was consistent in his support of journalists, especially their welfare.
“Since being appointed in 2020, Hajiji has been providing an annual allocation to KKJA without fail and is the only Chief Minister to do so.

“The annual allocation from the State Government allowed KKJA to provide study awards for members’ children as well as welfare aid for members in need,” said KKJA Chairman Jimmy Goh at its Press Nite at Putera Ballroom, Saturday.
Goh said the continuous support from Hajiji deeply reflects his high regard for the media fraternity.

“Hajiji has also provided assistance to former journalists having health issues. This tells a lot about our Chief Minister’s concern for not only journalists but Sabahans as well,” he said.
Goh said Hajiji’s kind gesture to journalists would also be remembered, adding Hajiji had intended to grace the occasion as Guest of Honour but had to cancel due to the Sabah Day celebration, which Sabah is officially celebrating for the first time at Padang Merdeka now.
Goh also thanked Hajiji for his personal contribution of RM10,000 for the lucky draw grand prizes which were presented to winners by Paul Lim and Abdul Kassim.
Among the more than 500 people present were State Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Christina Liew, KKJA Life Advisor, Tan Sri Paul Lim, Chief Political Secretary to the Chief Minister, Datuk Abdul Kassim Razali and Organising Chairman, Alex Ong.
The event started with the singing of the National Anthem followed by the State Anthem and waiving of the Jalur Gemilang and Sabah flag.
Those present were also entertained to performances by Hosaini Keewon, Leslie Lee and a traditional dance troupe.
During the event, three new KKJA Advisors also received their Certificate of Appointment – Abdul Kassim, Fong Tet Kong and George Teo Aun Lun.
