SportExcel Malaysia’s Borneo Division launched

Kota Kinabalu: The SportExcel Malaysia’s Borneo Division was officially launched at the Sabah International Convention Centre here on Friday.

This followed the official signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between SportExcel Malaysia executive director C. Sivanandan and manager of Alpha Sports Academy (ASA) Ali Ariffin.

Ali said the partnership between the two parties signifies ASA’s commitment to nurturing talent and promoting sports development in the region.

“This is a monumental step towards fostering sporting excellence in Sabah. Together, we are aiming to cultivate a vibrant sporting community, where talent is honed and nurtured to achieve greatness on national and international stages,” he said.

This event coincides with its proposed listing on the Main Market of Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad ("Bursa Securities"), scheduled for 30 April 2025.
The same day also saw ASA announce the launch of Tri-Golf, a joint venture with ACE Academy and Apex Fitness as well as the collaborative partnerships with local clubs and schools including Golf Walker, Nabalu Dancesport Circle, Sidma College, Maktab Nasional, SRS Datuk Simon Fung and SK Lapasan.

Ali is confident that by synergising their respective strengths and resources, Tri-Golf is set to become a premier destination for aspiring golfers looking to excel in the industry.

“This strategic partnership signifies a concerted effort to elevate the standards of golf training and development in the region.”

As for the partnership with clubs and schools, he said the move is an indication of ASA’s commitment to fostering strong ties within the sports community and providing unparalleled opportunities for sports enthusiasts of all levels.

ASA’s strategic plan including training camps, coaching courses, junior golf tour, international golf championship, national rhythmic gymnastics and archery competitions were also on show at the function.

There are also plans to include other sports disciplines for the youth in the community.

Meanwhile, Ali praised the presence of Youth and Sports Ministry’s permanent secretary Datuk Mansur Asun and said it showed the government’s support in ASA initiative to boost the State’s sport industry.
