PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Islamic development department (Jakim) has confirmed that six popular food and beverage outlets regularly patronised by Muslims are not halal-certified.
Jakim listed Johnny’s, Black Canyon, Dolly Dim Sum, Mr Dakgalbi, Bungkus Kaw Kaw, and Ayam Penyet Best (except four outlets) as not having halal certificates.
ADVERTISEMENT The statement dated Sept 2 has gone viral on social media.
In a Facebook post today, Jakim confirmed that the statement was issued following a query on the halal status of the eateries received through the department’s public complaints system.
It said however that four of Ayam Penyet Best’s outlets have obtained halal certification.
