Enforcement officer among 6 remanded in bribery probe

The six, suspected of soliciting and receiving monthly bribes of between RM5,000 and RM10,000, were arrested at the MACC office in Kota Bharu, Kelantan, yesterday.
KOTA BHARU: Six men, including an enforcement officer, have been remanded for five days from today to assist in an investigation into cases of corruption.
Magistrate Ahmad Syafiq Aizat Nazri issued the remand order for the men, in their 50s, to facilitate the investigation for giving or accepting gratification under Section 17 (a) of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Act 2009.

The men were arrested at the MACC office here between 2pm and 5pm yesterday.
They are suspected of soliciting and receiving monthly bribes of between RM5,000 and RM10,000 as an inducement not to act against smuggling operations.
