Rescued – seven victims trapped in Tawau flood

A Tawau Fire and Rescue Department team moving trapped victims to a safe place.
TAWAU: Seven victims, six of them children, who were trapped in a flood at Batu 17, Jalan Quion Hill were rescued by the fire brigade, Tuesday morning.
Tawau Fire and Rescue Station Chief Jemishin Ujin said the victims comprised an adult woman, four girls and two boys.
ADVERTISEMENT According to him, the victims were moved to a safer location after the team arrived at the scene at 8.36am.
Earlier, six personnel on a fire engine were deployed to the location after receiving a distress call at 7.30am, he said.
He added that the operation ended at 9.25am after making sure there was no other dangers at the scene.
Meanwhile, dozens of vehicles were reported to be affected when they were unable to pass through the junction of Kg Sungai Udin along Jalan Merotai- Kalabakan after it was flooded following continuous rain around 2am.
