2.2 million visitors, RM24 million Fama sales

KENINGAU: Fama Fest recorded the attendance of 2.2 million visitors and the participation of 2,180 entrepreneurs with a sales value of RM24 million since the programme was implemented in 2017 until last year.
The initiative of the Federal Agricultural Marketing Board (Fama) to introduce the Fama Fest programme has spurred local economic growth by increasing the income of entrepreneurs.
ADVERTISEMENT This programme, implemented since 2017, has provided benefits to various parties, especially the people who receive the benefit of price savings for essential goods.
Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Datuk Arthur Joseph Kurup said the programme creates a platform for Fama entrepreneurs to promote various agricultural products and services including the uniqueness of popular traditional foods in the country.
At the same time, he said, Fama Fest is also a field for local communities to work together to promote and support local products, thus creating their own identity in their respective areas.
“The Fama Fest 2024 @ Sabah programme held over these four days has benefited 443 entrepreneurs by targeting a sales value of RM250,000 and was able to attract 20,000 visitors,” he said, when closing FAMA Fest 2024 @ Sabah at the Arked hall and Permanent Farmers Market here on Sunday.

He said eight Fama Fest locations had been held this year starting in Perak, Sarawak, Negeri Sembilan, Selangor, Pahang, Kelantan, Kuala Lumpur and now in Sabah.
According to him, this programme had been implemented in these seven states and with 459,417 visitors and benefitting 808 entrepreneurs with a sales value of RM8,415,438.84.

Thee public had the opportunity to obtain various food products at attractive prices in conjunction with the organisation of this programme here from Aug 29 to Sept 1.
There were 445 sales lots covering nine segments including Madani Agro Sales, Agricultural Food Industry product sales and others.
Fama Fest 2024 @ Sabah also features a variety of exciting programmes including the Madani Combo Sale, promotional sales of local fruits such as bali lime, durian, bambangan, tarap and others from various areas in Sabah as well as a lucky draw with a cumulative value of over RM10,000 with a purchase of RM10 and above without cash through the Cashless La Boss programme.
Earlier, Arthur presented a cheque for the Incentive Grant of the Local Authorities Weekly Tamu Upgrading Project for interior and witnessed the Document Exchange Ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Director General of the Board of Farmers’ Organisations and the Director General of the Malaysian Pineapple Industry Board for the Pineapple Planting Project in Nabawan District.
