KUNAK: A three-day operation has begun to demolish squatter settlements in the Kg Kunak Tiga coastline area, occupied mostly by the Sea Gypsies (Palaus).
Kunak District Police Chief Supt Sabarudin Rahmat said the operation from Wednesday also involved Kunak District Council, Rela, Civil Defence Force, the Forestry Department, Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd and several other government agencies.
“It is to done to clear the area of squatter colonies,” he said.
In addition to chainsaws, excavators and tractors were used in the demolition works.
