Tuaran: The inaugural Tuaran Lantern Festival is expected to attract 5,000 visitors this Saturday (Sept 7) at the Town Field.

Organising Chairman Frankie Goh said the Lions Club of Tuaran is organising the festival, featuring various exciting activities.

“Among the activities to be held are a float parade, food bazaar, traditional dance performances, a lantern exhibition, and a fireworks display,” he said in a statement recently.

According to him, this programme provides an excellent platform for the community to foster a spirit of unity and harmony.

“This festival also offers an opportunity to learn about the culture and arts of other ethnic groups, and this mutual understanding highlights our country’s uniqueness.

“All citizens should work together to maintain unity, respect each other’s sensitivities and cultures, and honour one another to preserve peace and prosperity in the country.

“I hope this event will receive a positive response and support from the community, especially in this district, in promoting Chinese culture.”

Goh said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor is expected to officiate the event, which is scheduled to take place from 10am-10pm. Admission is free.
