Kota Kinabalu: Sandakan Indian Association (Baru) Patron Nor Aslam Mano Abdullah was honoured a Tokoh Guru by the State Education Department.
He received the award from the Sabah Education Director Datuk Raisin Saidin. Also present at the function was the Sandakan District Education Officer Hajah Munah Haji Nasri.
"The Sandakan Indian Association said it is delighted that Nor Aslam’s dedication as a teacher has been recognised.
“He has sacrificed his entire working life towards educating the young and the fruits of his labour have benefitted all his former students and society as a whole,” said Taren Sunil Manoharan, a fellow Patrron of SIA (Baru).
Nor Aslam retired last year. His last posting was as “Pengetua Cemerlang” (excellent principal) of SMK Elopura Sandakan and Malaysian Art School Programme Administrator.
Nor Aslam is a Persatuan Gabungan Sabah committee member and is also involved in the strategic STEM Sabah programme among others.
